The PlayStation Portable, usually abbreviated to PSP, was first released in the UK on 1 September 2005 for £179. More powerful than the popular Nintendo DS, Sony has seen sales increase huge amounts over the last few years due to hardware upgrades.
The current design of the PSP looks almost identical to it’s original form however the PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 have seen the console become much lighter, faster and feature rich.
The PSP Go! is Sony’s latest version of the Playstation Portable. Instead of using Universal Media Discs (UMD), all games are downloaded directly from the Playstation Network store. The Go! is 35% smaller than the PSP 3000 and around 16% lighter. The only drawback is you can only download games directly; i.e. PSP UMD’s don’t work on the go.
The PSP is a great option for those who are looking to play cutting edge games on a portable device.
