Nintendo DS

The most popular handheld games console in the world! The successor to the hugely successful GameBoy series of consoles, the Nintendo DS is a dual screen handheld with an amazing back catalogue of games.

Nintendo 3DS

Scheduled for release in March 2011, The Nintendo 3DS will be able to play 3D movies and 3D games. It is also backward compatible with all DS game cards.

Nintendo DSi XL

The longest, widest and heaviest of all DS consoles, the DS XL is perfect for those who want a larger screen. Perfect for playing around the house.

Nintendo DSi

Released in early 2009, the Nintendo DSi is the successor to the Nintendo DS Lite and features two VGA cameras and a range of extra functionality.

Nintendo DS Lite

The second version of the Nintendo DS can now be purchased for around £99. A great option for bargain hunters.

The original DS was released in the UK on 11 March 2005 for £129.99 (with Super Mario 64 DS). Featuring a useful dual screen (hence the abbreviation DS), the handheld system could play new DS games as well as Game Boy Advance cartridges.

Just over a year later the Nintendo DS Lite was released. The screen was 4% larger and it was 27% lighter too. The DS Lite is still backwards compatibile with Game Boy Advance cartridges however the games protrude a little from the console; something which was unavoidable due to the 41% reduction in size.

2009 saw the release of third version of the DS: the Nintendo DSi featured two cameras and could connect to an online shop (though the Game Boy Advance game option was removed). A larger version called the DSi XL was also released for those who want a larger screen.

Without doubt the greatest selling point of the DS consoles has been the amazing games catalogue. From educational games to gaming classics, the DS has it all covered.
